Angels Take Charge

Last night James and a few other men went to the church to re-paint the floors. We have our anniversary services beginning Friday, so they wanted the building to look nice for the special occasion. At about 11:00 PM, as James was traveling along the interstate taking Carlos (one of the church men) home, the car made an unusual noise. So, they took the nearest exit. It looked like the drive shaft. James called the towing company with our insurance and they said it would be 3 to 4 hours before a truck would be there. Carlos went to the nearest bus stop. James stayed with the car – hungry and thirsty, but unable to leave.

After about an hour, a car pulled up. It was a worker from a nearby restaurant. He told James he was parked near a dangerous neighborhood where several of the restaurant’s customers had been robbed before. The worker asked if he could pull (tow with a rope) James to the next exit. Not knowing the man’s intentions, he told him he’d be fine there. The man insisted that it would not be safe for him to stay there. Just at that moment, Carlos called to check on him. Evidently, he had been waiting all that time for a bus and one had not come yet. So, James asked Carlos to come back to the car so the man could pull them to the next exit. That way, Carlos could back James up and he would have a better chance of catching a bus up there anyway.

Don’t ask me why, but this Good Samaritan had a rope in his car all ready to go. With Carlos riding in the man’s car, he pulled our car to the next exit and left. He never asked for anything in return. At that exit there was a gas station where James could get some dinner and feel a little more comfortable while he waited 2 more hours for the tow truck. Praise God for His protection and provision! “For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways” (Psalm 91:11).

Our car is at the mechanic now and we are waiting to hear the estimate. Please pray it could be fixed quickly and without much damage to the wallet!
