A Reason to Pray

South of the equator it’s winter here! In Buenos Aires, our climate is similar to that of coastal Georgia – humid, hot in the summer and cold (enough) in the winter.

For the second Sunday in a row, we woke up to frost on the ground and temperatures around 30°F. That means everyone must bundle up to go to church, because the building is concrete block and the heat is inadequate. The last thing we want is people to come to church and have to suffer! We have installed four small wall heaters since we moved in, but it’s just not enough for the open space. If you’ve ever rented before, you also realize there is only so much you want to spend on improving someone else’s property.

For the second Sunday in a row, we had to cancel children’s church for the older kids since they meet on the back patio (picture below) because it was just too cold.

Last winter we were able to combine the children’s classes and have them all meet in the preschool classroom. However, there are just too many kids now (we average 14-17 with the teachers). Though we have teachers to teach them, we don’t have adequate space! Please pray that God would provide the funds to purchase property so we can build a church that meets our needs for space and comfort!

The men have been scouting properties and have found a few possible lots in the city center, but mostly properties with an existing building for anywhere from $100,000 to $250,000. Here are a few examples:

1100 m2 (.27 acre) – $100,000

1200 m2 (.3 acre) – $110,000

800 m2 (.2 acre) – over $250,000 –with house on right and warehouse on left.
